International Folk Art Market
One of Santa Fe's most anticipated annual events is the International Folk Art Market, which takes place in the second week of July. Since 2004 Santa Fe has hosted folk artists and craftsmen from around the world to participate in this celebration of handmade artwork and traditional creative practices. These days the market includes about 150 artists and makers from over 60 different countries. The three day long market helps support artists, and facilitate international exposure and networking. It's an incredible opportunity to find unique pieces from around the world all gathered in one place.
Santa Fe Art Week
Santa Fe Art Week is a lively time for events happening across all four arts districts in the city including the Railyard, Downtown, SFXL, and Canyon Road (home of Gallery Wild!). This year the week kicks off on July 11th and festivities will go until the 21st. Art Santa Fe, the three day fair at the Community Convention Center is one of the must see highlights of Art Week for fine art collectors, showcasing new works from a great range of world-class artists. Music, workshops, and openings make for great exploration and experiences across the city.
Spanish Market
Santa Fe's long history of Spanish settlement has become one of the hallmarks of culture, art, and traditions that make up the city's personality. Every year on the last weekend of July artists and artisans of Hispanic background gather to share and sell their work. Discover creations by over 120 artists that carry forward both modern and historical Hispanic creativity and expression.
Indian Market
For over 100 years Santa Fe has hosted what is now the largest juried Native American art show in the world. It is one of the city's most anticipated events of the season, attended by an estimated 100,000 people each August. From strictly traditional art styles to more contemporary evolutions, the artists here are able to share the incredible lineage of Native art, jewelry, textiles, pottery, and innovation that makes Santa Fe so special. On that note, we would like to acknowledge that all of these festivities and events listed here take place on the traditional land of the Tewa people, Oga Po'geh.
Santa Fe Summer Scene: Live Music
Nothing beats a community gathered around live music on a warm summer evening. These free concerts take place at locations around town throughout the summer season, including the downtown plaza and the Santa Fe Railyard. Performers range from local legends to nationally touring musicians, and dancing is encouraged!
Fiestas de Santa Fe
Parades, events, music and celebrations return every year as a marker of the history of Spanish heritage in the city. Green chiles are roasted, end of summer harvest time is in full swing, and residents make the most of the last weeks before fall. One of the most notorious events of the Fiestas is the burning of Zozobra, a huge marionette that represents the "glooms" of the past year. This year, in celebration of the 100th year of this event, 30 Zozobra sculptures were painted by a variety of local artists, and displayed throughout the city's arts districts, including Canyon Road.
